Over the weekend (June 6th-7th) we opened our school eco garden as part of the NGS Open Garden Scheme. It was a wonderful weekend and the weather was lovely. A dedicated band of volunteers helped to prepare the gardens and were available to show visitors round, serve teas and coffees and sell plants. Our visitors were very impressed with the garden and with their pupil guides, who were all very confident and knowledgeable. Below are some photos of the event and some quotes from our visitor book.

Quotes from our visitor book:

Charlotte and Ella were excellent tour guides-very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We were impressed by the wide variety of plants, especially the enormous strawberries, as well as the self-made fence in the African keyhole part. It was nice to t be given little tasters of things and we even saw some tadpoles in the pond. Overall one of the best gardens on show, made even better by the cakes 🙂

Delightful garden tour by Daniel (AKA Usain Bolt!!!) The garden is beautifully done and very educational – I wish I’d had something similar in my school days.     Roy and Gill Tone

It’s been a few years since I brought the judges round to Holy Redeemer to see the gardens and what a change a few years make! Wonderful to see the eco project growing especially with the helpful info given by our delightful, and informative guides Ella and Charlotte.     J Wood (Chairman, Wychavon D.C.)

Evie was our brilliant guide and explained everything really well. She was a good ambassador for Eco Club. We are impressed with the work of the children and with the garden. Well done!

A lovely time spent looking at the fabulous fruit and vegetables (especially the strawberries). Shall look forward to visiting again in the future.    Diane and Julian (Bournville)

To see the children with some much pride and enthusiasm for their garden created with hope and wonder was fantastic. I don’t think I have ever had so much wonderful knowledgeable guides. A special thank you to Caitlin and her brother Daniel. Keep up the good work.

The best garden I have looked at today. The children enjoyed showing it off to me. So much in such a small space! Well done. Candice

What a surprise when we approached the school gate. Evie and Caitlin were so eager from the start to show us this wonderful school garden. They were bubbling with enthusiasm! We thought about the giant strawberries and the keyhole garden, together with all the fruit, vegetables and plants. This is surely a showcase garden and I hope that other schools visit to give them the enthusiasm to start their own.     Sandie and Peter (Droitwich)

We were very impressed by the guided tour we were given by two boys, who were very informative and knowledgeable. The work you all achieve here is fantastic.     Lucinda, Roger and Beth (Teague)
