Hopscotch @ Holy Redeemer

‘Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take,

but by the moments that take your breath away.’

Welcome to our Hopscotch Pre-school page. Hopscotch forms part of our Early Years provision at Holy Redeemer School, led by Mrs Rachael Barker, our Early Years Leader.  We work closely with Mrs Barker to ensure that we provide a stimulating and welcoming environment where children thrive and are fully prepared for starting school.

Our Trip to Croome Park for the Gingerbread Trail

13th December 2017

What a great day we had in the snow! We found all the hidden gingerbread people around the park and even had time to enjoy the play area.

Autumn second half term 2017

This half term we are learning about celebrations. We started by thinking about our own birthdays which can be found on the website posts.

This week we are finding out all about Diwali – the Festival of Light. Here are just a few photographs to show you what we have done so far.

    NEW FOREST FRIDAYS !!!

On Friday 3rd November 2017 we started our new Forest Fridays sessions up at Pershore Horticultural College. The children have enjoyed hide-and-seek, tree painting, digging, following the fairy trail and climbing, alongside lots of outdoor opportunities to practise counting, speaking and listening and sounds.

Autumn first half term 2017

We started the year with different nursery rhyme theme for each week. Here is ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ week. We made boats, sailed them down our river, had picnics on the river bank and lots, lots more!

At Hopscotch Pre-school in Pershore, we are delighted to offer fun and exciting learning for children from ages 2 to 5, from 7:40am-6pm, Monday to Friday. The enthusiasm from our attentive and friendly staff is infectious, helping to create the fun and bright environment we are so proud of.

The vision of a group of parents who attend the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic School, which enjoyed excellent latest Ofsted results, Hopscotch Preschool is run by Holy Redeemer’s school Governors, who concentrates their efforts on delivering the very best in pre-school child care.

Currently based in the Community Hall next door to the school (but with plans to move down to the school site in the next academic year), we provide a wonderful place for our children to start their journey in education in accordance with the The Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS).  Through play we create unique children who are ready to continue their exciting journey.

Our pre-school child care is dedicated to learning through:

  • Play and story time
  • Indoor and outdoor play
  • Education through letters and sounds
  • Games

Proudly associated with The Holy Redeemer RC School, we serve:

  • Pershore
  • Pensham
  • Wyre Piddle
  • Defford
  • Wick
  • Wadborough

And surrounding areas.

All of our staff are DBS (Enhanced) checked. This helps make Hopscotch Pre-school a safe, happy and fun learning environment.

Summer Term 2017

We have been learning about transport and holidays. We have opened an ‘Ice cream parlour’ and a train station with a ticket office within the setting to help us with our learning.

All aboard!!

Spring Term 2017

We have started this term with The Gruffalo’s Child.

We found some footprints in the snow! We measured them to work out if it was the Gruffalo’s or the child’s.
The children were then keen to measure their own feet.

We have looked at animal tracks and enjoyed making tracks outside in the snow and enjoyed lots of painting opportunities. Story retelling through small world play, role play in the Gruffalo’s cave and our puppet theatre and used animals to retell the story. This week we have also had a key focus on matching rhyming words.

Autumn Term 2016

During the Autumn Term pre-school got up to lots of exciting things. For part of the term we had a ‘Space’ theme, where the children could choose to be astronauts and man the space station! In the outdoor area we had a builders and lots of great building work went on (with due care and attention to health and safety of course: please note the use of hard hats when on site), got involved in the Children in Need Appeal and finished the term with a Christmas focus. As part of our ‘Christmas’ theme the children took part in a nativity and also set up and ran an ‘Elves’ Workshop’, wrapping presents and getting them all ready for Santa to deliver!

We had some visitors in preschool this term too. Our visiting music teacher came in and we had great fun with the instruments. She even ran a brilliant session that parents came to as well. Later in the term we had a very special visit from Father Christmas, who brought each child a present.
